The following fields are covered by the bursary programme.

The bursary is awarded for studies in the following fields:
  • Civil Engineering

  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Ventilation

Expenses Covered By The Bursary

The following expenses are covered by the bursary:
  • Cost of tuition.
  • Accommodation allowance.
  • Allowance for laptop.
  • Study material allowance.
  • Medical aid benefits.
  • Living costs.

Eligibility Criteria For The  Bursary Programme.

The following are the minimum requirements. If you do not meet the following requirements your application will not be considered.

For Civil Engineering


  •     Completed Matric or be currently in Matric
  •     1st-year students: Grade 12 (Mathematics or Technical Mathematics, Physical Science or Technical Science and English with 60% pass rate). Applied and Accepted – 1st year Civil Engineering (4-year degree – BSc, BEng, BET) – NQF7
  •     2nd-year students: Registered as a 1st year currently studying must have passed all modules that they have registered for.
  •     3rd-year students: Must be currently completing 2nd year and pass all modules and must have passed all subjects you are currently registered for at tertiary institution.
  •     4th-year students: Must be currently completing 3rd year and pass all modules and must have passed all subjects you are currently registered for at tertiary institution.

For Electrical Engineering


  •     Current Grade 12 learners must submit their final Grade 11 results (Mathematics, Science and English with 60% pass rate), stamped by the school.
  •     1st-year students: Grade 12 (Mathematics, Science and English with 60% pass rate). Applied and Accepted – 1st year Diploma / Degree Electrical (Heavy Current) Engineering, certified copy of Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics, Science and English with 60% pass rate and acceptance letter at a university.
  •     2nd-year students: Registered as a 1st year currently studying must have passed all modules registered for
  •     3rd-year students: Must be currently completing 2nd year and pass all modules and must have passed all subjects you are currently registered for at tertiary institution.
  •     4th-year students: Must be currently completing 3rd year and pass all modules and must have passed all subjects you are currently registered for at tertiary institution.

For Geotechnical Engineering


  •     Completed Matric.
  •     Students who have been enrolled at a university for pursuing a diploma or degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  •     In 3rd year or currently studying 2nd year at a recognized and accredited university in South Africa
  •     In 4th year or currently studying 3rd year at a recognized and accredited university in South Africa
  •     Must have passed all modules that they have registered for in 2023.

For Industrial Engineering


  •     Grade 12 learners must submit their Grade 11 results, stamped by the school, and provisional acceptance at a tertiary institution.
  •     1st-year students: Grade 12 (Mathematics or Technical Mathematics, Physical Science or Technical Science and English with 60% pass rate). Applied and Accepted – 1st year Industrial Engineering (4-year degree – BSc, BEng, BET) – NQF8
  •     2nd-year students: Registered as a 1st year currently studying must have passed all modules that they have registered for.
  •     3rd-year students: Must be currently completing 2nd year and pass all modules and must have passed all subjects you are currently registered for at tertiary institution.
  •     4th-year students: Must be currently completing 3rd year and pass all modules and must have passed all subjects you are currently registered for at tertiary institution.

For Mechanical Engineering

  •     Current Grade 12 learners must submit their final Grade 11 results (Mathematics, Science and English with 60% pass rate), stamped by the school.
  •     1st-year students: Grade 12 (Mathematics, Science and English with 60% pass rate). Applied and Accepted – 1st-year Diploma / Degree Mechanical or Electrical (Heavy Current) Engineering, certified copy of Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics, Science and English with 60% pass rate and acceptance letter at a university.
  •     2nd-year students: Registered as a 1st year currently studying must have passed all modules registered for
  •     3rd-year students: Must be currently completing 2nd year and pass all modules and must have passed all subjects you are currently registered for at tertiary institution.
  •     4th-year students: Must be currently completing 3rd year and pass all modules and must have passed all subjects you are currently registered for at tertiary institution.

For Ventilation


  •     3rd-year student: Must be currently completing 2nd year and must have passed all subjects you are currently registered for at tertiary institution.
  •     4th year student: Must be currently completing 3rd year and must have passed all subjects you are currently registered for at tertiary institution.


Documents Required For The  Bursary Programme

The following documents are required for the bursary programme, and you must submit clear copies of them along with your bursary application. If you  do not submit all the following documentation your application will not be considered.

For Civil Engineering


  •     Your certified ID document.
  •     Your Grade 11 results, stamped by your school or, if you have completed Grade 12, a certified copy of your Grade 12 certificate.
  •     Proof of residence
  •     Your latest transcripts and previous year’s results; and
  •     A CV with all the relevant information
  •     Proof of Resident

For Electrical Engineering


  •     Your certified ID document.
  •     Your Grade 11 results, stamped by your school or, if you have completed Grade 12, a certified copy of your Grade 12 certificate.
  •     Proof of residence
  •     Your latest transcripts and previous year’s results; and
  •     A CV with all the relevant information

For Geotechnical Engineering


  •     A certified copy of your ID.
  •     Your final Grade 11 results, stamped by your school or, if you have completed Grade 12, a certified copy of your Grade 12 certificate.
  •     Proof of residence.
  •     A CV with all the relevant information.

For Industrial Engineering


  •     Your certified ID document.
  •     Your Grade 11 results, stamped by your school or, if you have completed Grade 12, a certified copy of your Grade 12 certificate.
  •     Proof of residence
  •     Your latest transcripts and previous year’s results; and
  •     A CV with all the relevant information
  •     Proof of Resident

For Mechanical Engineering


  •     A certified copy of your ID.
  •     Your final Grade 11 results, stamped by your school or, if you have completed Grade 12, a certified copy of your Grade 12 certificate.
  •     Proof of residence.
  •     A CV with all the relevant information.

For Ventilation


  •     Valid ID documents.
  •     Certified copy of results of Grade 12 results.
  •     Latest academic transcripts as well as last year’s results.
  •     A Curriculum Vitae containing all the relevant information.
  •     Residential proof.

Closing Date For The  Bursary Programme 

The closing date for the bursary programme is 15 June 2023. If you submit an application after the closing date your application will not be considered. Apply as soon as you can and good luck.
