Sappi is a popular company that produces and sells commodity paper products, pulp, dissolving pulp and forest and timber products in Southern Africa. On their website they describe themselves as a global renewable resource company that uses every part of the tree to make every day more sustainable. This should provide you with a clear conscience. 


In order to be ELIGIBLE you should fall into the following points:


 You should be someone leaving school or a university studentbetween 18 and 25 years old, are intending to study or are studying (respectively) full time at any South African accredited university. If you do fall into this criteria then you may be eligible for their bursary. Furthermore you should be studying in one of the below fields:
 
  •  Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science - Mechanical Engineering 
  •  
  •  Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science - Electrical Engineering 
  •  
  •  Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science - Chemical Engineering
  •  
  •  Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science - Industrial Engineering
  •  
  •  Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science - Civil Engineering
  •  
  •  Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science - Mechatronics
  •  
  •  Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science - Forestry and Wood Sciences
  •  
  •  National Diploma - Pulp and Paper
  •  
  •  National Diploma in Forestry. 
Other requirements are that you must have:

  •  South African citizenship 
  •  an average of 70-80% in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy), 70-80% in Physical science, and 60% in English, and
  •  a qualifying APS score for entrance at the university, or acceptance confirmaton. 
  
Your current university results  will be considered if you are an undergraduate student.Please note they say that preference will be given to learners with an average of 75% and above in Mathematics and Physical Science. 

When To Apply 


Their applications are open every year from 1 June to 30 September. To add on if you meet the minimum requirements, they may be will invite you to a selection interview.
