Boston Media House

It was formed with the goal of providing the best opportunity for students to study and qualify for a career in the media and design industry. It is registered with the ​Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in South Africa and has 3 campuses. Which are located in Sandton, Pretoria and Durban.

YFM

It is a youth-focused radio station in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Y in its name meaning precisely “Youth”. It was established in 1997 and has an Urban Contemporary format, with majority of its airtime made up of urban music genres, including: Hip Hop, R&B, Kwaito. 

About The Boston Media House & YFM Scholarship 

They are inviting students to apply for two types of scholarship for the 2022 academic year.
Scholarship 1: Diploma in Media Practices at Boston Media House (3 Years full-time), to the value of R180 000, or
Scholarship 2: Soul Candi digital composition and production (short course), to the value of R30 000.

Process For The Boston Media House & YFM Scholarship 

The selection process will include:

Media Studies Diploma Scholarship:

  • YFM producers will assess all entries and select the Top 10 candidates with the highest Matric results and with articulate radio links.
  • YFM and Boston Media House’s panel of judges will assess these Top 10 candidates and thereafter 1 winner will be selected.
  • The winner will be announced on 8 February 2022, on YFM’s The Lady on Drive with Khutso Theledi (between 15:00 and 18:00).

Soul Candi digital composition and production Scholarship:

  • YFM producers will assess all entries and select the Top 3 candidates with the best music mix.
  • Boston Media House’s panel of judges will assess these Top 3 candidates and thereafter 1 winner will be selected.
  • The winner will be announced on 11 February 2022, on YFM’s YTKO DJ Candii show, after her YTKO mix (between 18:00 and 19:00).

Eligibility Criteria For The Boston Media House & YFM Scholarship 

The following are the minimum requirements for the scholarship. If you do not meet the requirements your application will not be considered.
  • You must have completed Matric in 2021
  • You must be interested in studying towards a Media or Music qualification
  • You must intend on studying at Boston Media House, in Sandton, in 2022
  • You must have a strong academic record
  • You must NOT be a director of Yired (Pty) Ltd, Boston Media House, an employee at YFM, Boston Media House and/or their agencies, and not an immediate family member

Documents Required For The Boston Media House & YFM Scholarship 

The following documents are required for the scholarship programme. If you do not submit all the required documents, your application will not be considered.

Media Studies Diploma Scholarship:

  • Matric certificate (maximum file size of 5MB, in either of these formats: pdf, jpg or png)
  • URL to your recorded radio link (on Google Driv, WeTransfer or similar platform)
  • Motivation letter stating why do you deserve to be awarded the scholarship

Soul Candi digital composition and production Scholarship:

  • Matric certificate (maximum file size of 5MB, in either of these formats: pdf, jpg or png)
  • URL to your recorded music mix (on Google Driv, WeTransfer or similar platform)
  • Motivation letter stating why do you deserve to be awarded the scholarship
